Art in the Park

Event Information

Art in the Park will be held in beautiful shade-filled South Park (12th and Massachusetts) on the south end of vibrant downtown Lawrence, Kansas.

When: September 24-25, 2022 (Saturday 10am to 6pm - Sunday 10am to 5pm)

Art in the Park is the Lawrence Art Guild’s premier annual event. It has been a Lawrence tradition since 1964, with cash awards, 15 musical groups (keeping in mind volume for artists), and food vendors. Over 20,000 attendees are expected along with additional out of town visitors due to this year's event coinciding with a KU football game weekend. Art in the Park was voted "Best Event" by the public in Lawrence's most recent Best of Lawrence Awards.

The Lawrence Art Guild is a not-for-profit organization with a mission to promote the arts and art education. In 2021, the Lawrence Art Guild sponsored two very successful art shows and held the Lawrence Art Guild Holiday Art Fair. Due to the proceeds made at Art in the Park, the Lawrence Art Guild has donated over $28,000 to local public high school art programs.

Accepted artists are also invited to have up to two pieces of their artwork in the Phoenix Gallery sponsored "Art in the Park Preview Show.” With an opening reception to be held during Lawrences highly attended Final Friday gallery walk.

Note: Application Deadline is May 31st 2022. All applications will be accepted through Zapplication only. We will not be allowing mail in applications. Zapplication is a free online artist application service.

As stated in the entry, this event is a fundraiser for the Lawrence Art Guild and helps the LAG fulfill its mission of supporting the local arts community.

At the end of the day (Sunday) before you pack up we ask you to check-out at the info booth and contribute 10% (not to exceed $200) of your sales at this time. This donation allows us to keep our booth fees way below industry standards for a two day event. Booth fees can be a large expense and this helps us reduce stress on our artists.

Covid Cancelation

The Lawrence Art Guild Board will make the final decision on cancellation, taking into consideration the guidelines/recommendations from The City of Lawrence and the CDC. It is our primary concern to protect the health of our artists and patrons. If Art in the Park 2022 is canceled, all booth fees will be returned to the artists. Jury fees will not be reimbursed.
